Quaternized lemon shine (INCI: Hydroxypropyltrimonium Lemon Protein) is a positively charged or cationic ingredient – a polyquaternium or cationic polymer – that’s water soluble, and can be used at 0.5% to 5% our hair and body care products to act as a conditioner, anti-static, and moisturizer that also increases shine. It’s also advertised as being hydrating, strengthening, and film forming, which is a pretty serious list of properties that we want in hair care products. It’s also great for reducing wet combing forces, which is awesome because we always want to reduce all forms of friction!
