Updates for a “how is it already summer?” kinda Monday…

Hi everyone! It’s been a chaotic few weeks around here, which has made it brutally hard to get any posts out. Here’s the update…

FORMULATING

I’ve been working on a lot of formulas using all these ingredients I brought home. I was feeling pretty overwhelmed and was having trouble getting started on anything because there were too many choices! (I know, such a hard life I lead, eh?)

I finally got a start on these formulas this weekend! Yay!

I’m ready to share formulas I created last year and the one before after observing them to ensure they’re stable, too!

POSTING

I’ve been feeling kinda blocked in posting as there’s so much to share and I’m not sure where to start. I have upwards of 80 posts written that can’t be shared until series X or Y is started, like the one on esters and the other on silicones. I hope to have that knot untangled in the next week or two. I may have to start in the deep end and paddle back, but we’ll get there.

I have two amazing formulas to share for my new favourite conditioner and leave in conditioner, but I need to share the write ups for five new ingredients! That’s how I’m getting stuck!

PAYPAL

The last few weeks, PayPal has had us jumping through random hoops to prove we were a corporation, which we aren’t. They froze our account in mid-March when we were away, and they stopped accepting payment for anything in early April without telling us. No one seemed to know what was happening or why, so we couldn’t solve it. It seems like it’s sorted now – ?- but it took up so much time as we were always tethered to the phone, which means I couldn’t get enough time to get into writing, researching, or formulating because of the constant interruptions. We have to do all kinds of follow up meetings this week with the accountant and so on, but it should be well sorted after that.

We’re officially a business. Phew!

If you or someone else you know is going through this, we found this link that offers some information. Yep, apparently if you have a business in Canada – small or large – they could consider you a money launderer. Sigh…

IF THERE’S A PROBLEM…

We’ve also been subjected to a number of people writing to us who have been less than kind, mostly because they didn’t understand that subscriptions are for each month. We’ve had to waste our time writing out responses our against PayPal disputes for as little as $1, which isn’t a great way to wake up, and it certainly puts me in a not-so-great mood for the rest of the day.

Edited to add…If you’d like to see the kind of abuse I face very day, click on this link to my blog Facebook page, and see these two women quite happily calling me names, insulting me, and screaming in all caps, and I’m supposed to take it because they subscribed to the blog?

I have to point out that I’m okay, I don’t take this stuff all that seriously, but this is the kind of stuff we receive every single day. 

If you have an issue, writing to us and calling us names, telling us we have terrible customer service, or insulting our honesty is unlikely to end well. If you have a concern, please write to us to share what’s happening and we can work together to solve the problem. We aren’t trying to keep you from downloading the ezines or accessing the blog: We want you to get all those things that comes with your subscription! We want you to be a happy member of the community! Assuming that we have malicious intent because you can’t log in or because you think you were billed twice incorrectly is hurtful to us, and isn’t through best way to start a conversation.

Also, you really really really need to write to tech support for non-formulating issues. If you write to me about tech support, password stuff, subscriptions, I’ll only send you a copy of what it says on the contact me page when I can finally get to your message. That can take a lot of time, and there’s no point in waiting when Raymond could have had it sorted the same business day.

If you’ve sent in a password reset, look in your spam or trash folder to see if it ended up there.
