Welcome to July 2025!

Happy Canada Day! It’s July 1st, and look at my farm grow! We have four bean plants now – for which we have purchased three different trellises as they outgrow them quickly – and three celery plants, as well as a bag of potatoes growing. I’m so excited for early August when all of these might be ready! Woo hoo!

Wow, last month I shared over 60,000 words with you here on the site and in the e-book, which works out to two novellas! Holy cow, no wonder my arms are sore!

I’m taking until July 10th off to finish my course and organize for the rest of the year!

I’m finishing up my Society of Cosmetic Chemists’ Skin Science Certificate – ends July 15, 2025 – and I need to take the first ten days of this month off to finish the last half of the course, skin science.

It’s been such a great course, and I can’t believe I’m almost done! I need some time to process what I’ve learned so I can start sharing it with you because there’s some really cool stuff I’m sure you’ll love!

We’ll be around to offer tech support, I just won’t be posting anything major during that time. Having said that, I think there’ll be some tips & techniques and discussion posts as I have some written.

I’ll still have the Chemistry Thursday post up on July 3, 2025, as the next three weeks of posts are ready to go…mostly.

I’ll be spending this time getting organized for the last half of the year as well.

I need to clean out the workshop as there are some really funky ingredients back there, and I need to organize my brain for the e-books and topics for the next three months.

I have so many ideas for e-books, I need to get them outlined to see what’s do-able and what needs more diagrams, photos, and such.

We were out on the 29th taking photos for my latest e-book, came out June 30th, Waterless beauty: Creating hair & beard oils.

I also need to get ahead of the posts here. I have a few written, but they almost always need some kind of graphics – formula sheet, photos, diagrams – that slows me down. I need to review a lot of stuff to see what needs what and get it sorted.

What’s happening here on the site this month?

A purple question mark used as an iconQuestion for you: Do you want to see a facial and body oil book (related to the hair & beard oil e-book) for July or a continuation of the esters series?

A cartoon of an Erlenmeyer flask with purple liquid used as an icon to draw people's attention to a paragraphWe’re continuing our Chemistry Thursday beginners’ chemistry course, which I’m having a blast writing! This month, it’s mostly about fatty acids and esters, then triglycerides! I’ve been designing the entire course to get to triglycerides so you can understand how oils work and how to choose them!

Innovation level subscribers – we have suppliers’ coupons for you in the suppliers’ coupon section.

I don’t think we’ll have one for Windy Point Soap Making Supplies as they’re having a Christmas in July sale. Check it out here

Want to have a Zoom workshop this month! I’m not sure about the date or topic, so please make suggestions in the comments section! Or make a suggestion by emailing me at swiftcraftymonkey@swiftcraftymonkey.blog with the subject “Zoom meeting” and, if there’s enough interest, we’ll get something sorted for the month!

An icon of an exclamation mark in greenAnyone interested in a cosmetic chemistry coffee klatch? I’d love to plan something for July, August, and September – somewhere outdoors in Chilliwack or Abbotsford, BC. I thought I could bring loads of fragrance oils to smell or some product samples I’ve been working on or we could even do a short class with formulas that don’t require huge electrical machines.

What do you think? Share your thoughts or write to me at swiftcraftymonkey@swiftcraftymonkey.blog and let me know what works for you!

Thanks for joining us in July! Hope you’re having a great month filled with formulating and fun!
