Luteolin is a polyphenol – specifically a flavonoid – which has cleansing, moisturizing, and anti-oxidant properties. It works as an emollient and skin conditioner. As an anti-oxidant, it works as a free radical scavenger and inhibits reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can damage lipids and proteins. And it’s considered a powerful anti-inflammatory, which is always welcome in my products, especially facial moisturizers and gels.
We also find Luteolin in chamomile, honeysuckle, and chrysanthemum extracts; St John’s wort hydrosol; and St John’s wort infused oil; and prickly pear extract.
