Updates on the blog, including this Sunday’s Zoom workshop on mixers!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year! Thanks for joining me on the blog in 2021! I have so many plans for this year, but I have to stay on task and not get distracted by shiny things for at least another few weeks so I can get things sorted!

Now that I’ve finished the combining emollients series, I’ve been working really hard to get all those posts I wrote to go with it about esters and silicones polished by adding photos and links while re-writing most of them with way more information, so I know I’ve been a bit quieter than normal both here and on social media.

I had that series set to run in just five parts in Spring 2019 with all kinds of entries on these emollients, then I went to London to Alchemy Labs with Jane Barber of Making Skincare, then Paris for In Cosmetics, and it blew my mind and I wanted to re-write it all. Now I have to re-write it again in light of all the information from the series we covered!

We’ve started up the Newbie Tuesday and Formulating Friday lotion making series/course again this week, and those will appear every Tuesday and Friday, as per the names!

New Zoom workshop!

This Sunday, January 17th, 2021 at 11 am PST (Vancouver, B.C. time), I’m offering a Zoom workshop on mixers! We had one last year on overhead mixers and magnetic stirrers, but I thought I’d do this one on immersion blenders and homogenizers and maybe other types, if we have time.

I haven’t finished the handout for it yet, but I’ll share that and the link with password for the workshop later this week, so keep checking back. I might announce it on social media, but then again, I might not, so if you want to be notified when I post on the blog, sign up for the daily or weekly digest by email. (The weekly digest comes out on Sunday morning, I think, so if you sign up for it now, you won’t get notification of the Zoom workshop, which is on Sunday.)

Quick summary, but I’ll write this up in more detail on the Zoom post before the meeting…

Zoom workshops are open to all current subscribers. There is a limit of 100 – which we reached before we even started the meeting for the shampoo bars workshop! – so I recommend you get there earlier rather than later and hang out in the waiting room before 11 am PST!

For each of these, I’ll be sharing the meeting link, password, and PDF with formulas and concepts a day or two before the workshop. If you can’t attend, you can still download the formula package and lessons. Please read them over before we start the workshop as I might have already answered some of the questions you have.

Although they’re recorded, we don’t share them for a number of reasons, including privacy issues and the amount of work required to get them ready for prime time.

There is a chat, and the lovely Cristina has offered to write your questions down so when I get a chance to answer them, they’re all organized. (Thank you, you amazing Cristina!) If I don’t get to them, I can always answer them on the blog afterwards. Raymond will also be there as a second camera to zoom in or focus on things other than me talking.

I think that’s it for now? I hope you’re all doing well wherever you are in the world and keeping safe! Thank you for continuing to join us here in our community on the blog.
