Welcome to August 2025! I hope this summer/winter is treating you well. Our little farm is producing beans at an alarming rate – we’ve had almost three servings so far, with much more to follow. Our potato plant has turned into a tree, but the celery is wilting under the mid-summer sun, so we keep watering and hoping it’ll turn out okay.
Wow, July 2025 was a banner month for writing! I shared 38,385 words on the site with an additional 40,400 words in the monthly e-book.
Holy cow! I knew I was writing a lot, but not that much. No wonder my arms are so tired.
I’m trying to follow my snoot to flavours of froot to see what I’ll write about next.
I’m really into oil profiles at the moment – I’ve shared 12 advanced profiles in the June and July 2025 e-books alone – as I work on the oil encyclopedia I’m putting together.
And I’m having fun playing with new-to-me cold process emulsifiers, like FLUIDIFEEL™ EASY, as well as older ones, like Sepiplus 300, which I think will be our beginners’ series in late September/early October.
I’m working on a pre-wash scalp cleansing fluid and getting ready to share a few potential duplications of the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream that I hope to have on here this month.
What’s happening here on the site this month?
We’re continuing our Chemistry Thursday introduction to cosmetic chemistry course, which I’m having a blast writing! This month, we’re finishing up fatty acids, then esters, then triglycerides. I’ve been designing the entire course to get to triglycerides so you can understand how oils work and how to choose them, so this is exciting. I think we’ll have a number of posts on triglycerides as they’re just so interesting, then I think we’ll be looking at polyatomic ions so we can learn more about ingredients like sodium laureth sulfate or glyceryl stearate citrate.
Innovation level subscribers – we have suppliers’ coupons for you in the suppliers’ coupon section. This month we have Windy Point Soap Making Supplies, Voyageur Soap & Candle, and Lotioncrafter. Woo hoo!
Do you want to have a Zoom workshop this month? I’m not sure about the date or topic, so please make suggestions in the comments section! Or make a suggestion by emailing me at swiftcraftymonkey@swiftcraftymonkey.blog with the subject “Zoom meeting” and, if there’s enough interest, we’ll get something sorted for the month!
Anyone interested in a cosmetic chemistry coffee klatch? I’d love to plan something for August, and September – somewhere outdoors in Chilliwack or Abbotsford, BC. I thought I could bring loads of fragrance oils to smell or some product samples I’ve been working on or we could even do a short class with formulas that don’t require huge electrical machines.
What do you think? Share your thoughts or write to me at swiftcraftymonkey@swiftcraftymonkey.blog and let me know what works for you!
And don’t forget – the best place to find out what’s going on here on the site is here on the site. I’d love to hear your comments about all the things we offer here!
Thanks for joining us in August! Hope you’re having a great month filled with formulating and fun!
