Welcome to February 2021!

Welcome to February! I’m taking a bit of a break from the blog for the first week or so of this month. My batteries are wearing down, and I really need to take some time to recharge them. Thanks to the pandemic, we haven’t been able to meet indoors or out with anyone socially since November, and the 11 months of isolating and leaving the house maybe once or twice a week is finally getting to me. (Being an extrovert is normally quite fun, but this pandemic is definitely testing me…) I need to take a bit to incorporate some of the healthy things I was doing, but let lapse, like going for longer walks, doing my daily exercises, practicing for my singing lessons, and getting out of the house a bit more, even if it’s for a short drive to get ice cream (lactose free, of course). It’s far too easy and fun to spend all day in my chair writing or researching or planning things for the workshop, but I really need to get moving for both my mental and physical health. I haven’t been in the workshop for a while to make things just for us, and really need to get a’crafting to stock up on things we desperately need as our last shampoo bar is slowly shrinking down to nothing. I haven’t taken a break from the blog and all that encompasses like email, social media, updating posts, taking photos, and all the rest since our honeymoon in May and June 2009, so it’s been quite a while.

Would you want to get out of your chair when this is what you see when you’re typing, this adorable dog giving you all the puppy love she has?

You won’t see the Newbie Tuesday and Formulating Friday posts this week, which will give those of you who’ve been meaning to start or have been waiting for supplies to make a few versions and join in on the fun. I had hoped to get those posts and a few others finished in time, but they’re just not ready, needing photos or links or a final edit or two.

Raymond will be available for tech support and questions about membership or subscriptions during this time.

What’s going on this month after the break?

We’re continuing with the Newbie Tuesday and Formulating Friday lotion making series using Simulsol/Lotionpro™ 165 with formulas for body butters, creams, and facial moisturizers still to come over the next month. If you’d like to join us, you can do that at any time by clicking this link for the Newbie Tuesday home page and the Formulating Friday home page.

Thank you for the awesome photos, Tiffany! You and Chris have contributed so many awesome pictures – thank you!

I’ll be doing more Zoom workshops with one planned for Sunday, February 14, 2021, at 11 am PST (Vancouver time), the subject to be determined. I’m leaning towards rheology modifiers, but I have to see what catches my fancy. The link to the workshop, password, and handout will be available shortly before that date.

I think I’ll do Zoom workshops every two to three weeks, depending on the topic and how long I have to prepare for and clean up after it.

As we do every month…

If you’re in need of supplies, $10 subscribers to the month will have three discount coupons this month for Lotioncrafter, Voyageur Soap & Candle, and Windy Point Soap Making Supplies. Thank you for this lovely gift out of the goodness of your hearts, lovely suppliers! These will be updated as I receive them from the suppliers. Please do not write to them or to me if they haven’t been updated yet.

As we do every month, if you’re a $3 subscriber or higher, click here to see the duplication request post! And don’t forget that you have access to the formula directory!

If you’re a $5 subscriber or higher, click here to see the month’s Q&A post! (I’ve continued from last month’s post as there were some great questions I needed to look at again!)

And don’t forget about the monthly Super happy fun member-to-member post for February 2021! It’s more important than ever that we connect with other people during this awful time, so please feel free to share your thoughts on this post or others on the blog!

If you’re a $10 subscriber or higher, you’ll get the e-zine for the month – which is generally issued on the 27th or later. I’m not sure what the topic will be yet, but there are – as always – a few different ones on the go. If you missed one for a month during which you were a subscriber, please click here to see those coupon codes. (Please download them as soon as you can as these links can expire after a year or two.)

Last month, you would have received Oh, the weather outside is frightful: Winter hair & skin care products as part of your $10 membership.

Hope you’re all doing well! Please take of yourself and each other. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, even if it’s faint, and we will get through this pandemic together.
