Sodium phytate

Sodium phytate is a water soluble chelating ingredient we can add to our products at 0.05% to 0.5% to bind with metal ions to keep the ingredients from reacting with them. These metal ions can precipitate in our creations, forming a metallic solid that is really unpleasant, and it can build up as scum on our bath! These ions in hard water can keep our surfactant based products from foaming as well as they should, and make it harder to rinse the product from our skin, resulting in an unpleasant tight feeling after cleansing.
