Vegan Kerazyme® Protect

The vegan version of this Kerazyme® Protect is is Vegan Kerazyme® Protect (INCI: Hydrolyzed Corn Protein & Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein & Hydrolyzed Soy Protein & Bambusa Arundinacea Leaf Extract & Trametes Versicolor Extract), and it swaps out the hydrolyzed keratin for hydrolyzed corn protein, hydrolyzed wheat protein, and hydrolyzed soy protein, a combination that can be found as Plant Keratin or PhytoKeratin®. It reduces colour fading, increases thermal protection, improves hair strength, retains style, and seals the cuticle. We use it at 1% to 10% in the cool down phase (45˚C or 113˚F). If you want it to work as a thermal protector for heated appliances, use in a leave-in conditioner or styling aid*. This is great for coloured hair, mechanically processed hair, frizzy to curly or textured hair.

*I don’t use any heated devices, so I haven’t experienced this personally, and I haven’t had anything tested for that property, so I can’t guarantee the products we make will offer thermal protection beyond the theoretical. Please always use heated appliances with caution.

Hydrolyzed wheat protein, hydrolyzed soy protein, and hydrolyzed corn protein are hydrolyzed proteins that act as film formers with high water holding capacities, making skin and hair feel smoother and more hydrated. They can also act as humectants to hydrate and draw water from the atmosphere. Hydrolyzed corn protein can work as an anti-static, preventing fly-aways! These hydrolyzed proteins may have some molecules small enough to penetrate through cracks in the cuticle to increase internal strength and mend split ends.

So this hair active has the same effects as the non-vegan Kerazyme® Protect, but uses different proteins to create the effect of hydrolyzed keratin. Vegan Kerazyme® Protect is GMO-free, COSMOS compliant, vegan, and derived from botanical sources.
